Greenfield 2013 4th of July Parade and Celebration

My cell phone has been ringing off the hook and pinging me with a flurry of parade entries for Greenfield’s 4th of July Parade and Celebration!  No worries people!  We will gladly welcome you to this year’s festivities!

Be sure to have your kids dress up their wheels in their best Red, White and Blue for our Bike Decorating Contest!  Entries will be judged at 11:30 a.m.  in the former Tam’s Chinese Restaurant parking lot at 68th Street and Layton Avenue.  All participants are welcomed to be a part of the parade following the announcement of the winners.

The Greenfield 4th of July Parade steps off at 12:15 p.m. from 68th Street and Layton Avenue.  The one (1) mile route will end at Konkel Park, at 51st and Layton Avenue.

We are pleased to announce this year’s Honorary Grand Marshals, two of Greenfield’s own, Whitnall High School graduates, Joel Stave (Wisconsin Badgers quarterback) and his sister Rachel Stave (three-time state diving champion).  Returning to our parade, the Greenfield High School and the UW Madison Marching Bands!  We also welcome the addition of the Whitnall High School Marching Band!  The rest of our lineup promises something for everyone!

Of course, plenty of food, beverage, afternoon entertainment and great live music with Step – In – Out!  They will have us dancing until our spectacular fireworks display by the City of Greenfield at dusk.

For the third year in a row, I am privileged to work with a group of dedicated volunteers to help plan our City’s annual 4th of July Parade and Celebration.  I’d like to give a shout out to all of them:  Bridget Condon, Community Bank and Trust; Dennis Ervin, Squirre Men’s Clothier; Becky Grund; Kristian Moberg and Jen Layton, JCI Greenfield; Pam and her son, Turner Panich; and last, but not least, the person who keeps all of us on track – the person who really makes things happen – the person that I could not imagine planning this event without, Mary Ann Hall!
