'Somewhere Between'
Seize the opportunity to help fund a documentary film about the search for identity and self.
I received an exciting email this morning from documentary filmmaker Linda Goldstein Knowlton. She's the creator of a wonderful film that I viewed at last year's Milwaukee Film Festival - Somewhere Between. Linda is an adoptive mom, having brought her daughter Ruby home from China. She writes, "When my husband and I adopted her from China we had no idea what lay ahead. We became a family - in an instant. But as I began to think about Ruby's future, I kept thinking about what her life would be like as a teenager. I couldn’t stop thinking about it in terms of her search for identity - I remembered my own search, I think being human is having that search - but hers might be so different from mine. As a filmmaker, I knew I had to explore this."
And that's what Somewhere Between is about. It's a wonderful film - I wrote a review of it for Adoption Resources of Wisconsin's newsletter last fall (see page 10). And the exciting news that I learned about this morning is that the film has the opportunity to be released in theaters! But . . . they need to raise $80,000 by April 11. There's a fundraising page set up at Kickstarter. I went this morning and made a donation . . . and I hope you will do. ANY amount helps and will support the process of bringing this film to the masses. It's a powerful and moving story - one you won't soon forget if you have the opportunity to view it.
