Celebrating Brian St. Germaine's Life

We often do not know what we have until it is gone. Brian St. Germaine was a dedicated and hardworking husband and father. He also positively influenced many others in his life.

The loss of Brian St. Germaine, a 41-year-old husband and father of three, has hit multiple communities very hard. He was a hardworking laborer with a wife, Nicole, and three young daughters, Jade (15), Jasmine (14) and Jewel (11). The girls were no doubt the apple of their father's eye. I watched them grow up at  in Greenfield on 68th & Forest Home. Jade was in the same class as my oldest son from kindergarten on. I recall all three girls at one time or another sitting next to their dad in church with their head leaning on his shoulder. He was their father, leader, basketball coach and rock. He was a wonderful husband to Nicole and a great dad.

The family moved to Watertown recently where two of the girls attend Luther Preparatory School. Even though they moved, they were still a part of St. John's Lutheran Church & School and always will be. St. John's is close-knit and nearly everyone knows each other.

I am amazed at the response from Brian's family after his untimely and tragic death due to an avoidable car accident. He was struck by a driver traveling in the wrong direction while on his way to work. Brian's family has remarkably rose to the occasion and responded in a way that only a miracle could allow. They turned to God and let Him lead them in their grief and despair. They are of the belief that, if God forgives us, they can forgive the circumstances surrounding their father's death. They also extended their condolences to the family of the driver who struck Brian, who was also killed.
