It used to be a very cost-efficient major ingredient in our kids' all-time favorite sandwich. With the cost of peanut butter on the rise, you may want to consider stocking up now. It is not only peanut butter itself that will be gouging our wallets, but any product that includes peanuts. The reason for this is the recent drought and severe heat peanut crops have suffered from in the southern part of the U.S. According to CBS Minnesota.com, the price of peanut butter could rise as much as 40 percent by next month. This is an incredibly large increase.
According to The National Peanut Board, Americans spend nearly $800 million on peanut butter each year. It remains to be seen how many of us will choose to replace it with another ingredient, or simply go without. There are without a doubt some die-hard peanut butter fans who will take the hit and buy it anyway.
