Alverno Concludes NACC Play With Victory Over Regents
Alverno College completed the conference portion of its schedule with a 6-3 victory over visiting Rockford University this afternoon.
The Inferno (2-13, 2-9 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference) lost a morning dual to Edgewood College, 8-1, who clinched its sixth-straight conference title.
In this morning's loss to the champion Eagles (12-3, 11-0 NACC), Laeren Yates won the number-4 singles match 6-3 and 6-4 for the Inferno's lone point. It marked the first time in five seasons Alverno wasn't swept by Edgewood, and Yates became just the seventh opponent to score a point against the Eagles in NACC play out of 99 chances.

Versus the Regents (0-11, 0-11) the Inferno led 2-1 after doubles play as Yates andJordanna Farkas won the number-1 doubles match 8-4, and Devin Bach and Charmaine Clark took the number-3 match 8-3.
The Inferno was victorious in the number 1-4 singles matches which secured the team win, as Farkas won the top match 6-2 and 6-2, Libby Kent won the number-2 match 6-4 and 6-0, Damanique Drake took the number-3 match 5-7, 7-6 and 10-5, and Yates won her second match of the day by scores of 6-3 and 6-3.

Alverno concludes its 2013 season with a nonconference dual versus host Mount Mary University on Thursday, Oct. 3, 4:30 p.m.
