4 Inferno Players Score Doubles In Victory Over Trolls

Four Inferno players scored in double digits to lead Alverno College to a 61-49 nonconference victory over the visiting Trinity Christian College Trolls Saturday evening in Reiman Gymnasium.

MILWAUKEE -- Four Inferno players scored in double digits to lead Alverno College to a 61-49 nonconference victory over the visiting Trinity Christian College Trolls Saturday evening in Reiman Gymnasium.

Anna Boteva led all scorers with 17 points on 7-of-15 shooting, Kaitlin Schaeren shot 4-of-5 for 11, while Kayla Kennedy (4-of-4) and Devon Gorman added 10 apiece.

Gorman also grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds for her third double-double of the season and dished out a game-best six assists in the victory.

Alverno (6-5) led the entire contest after jumping out to an 8-0 lead that began the game.

The Trolls (2-14) cut the lead to 20-17 on one of their seven 3-pointers on the night midway through the first half, but the Inferno held the Trolls scoreless the remainder of the period and matched its biggest lead of the half on a Schaeren layup for the 28-17 cushion at intermission.

The Trolls closed the gap to five points on four occasions in the second half, but the Inferno held the visitors at bay and increased its lead to a game-high 19 points with two minutes left in the game before the Trolls connected on four of their last five shots for the final 12-point spread.

Holly Boetsma led the Trolls with 14 points on 4-of-6 from the 3-point arc, while Olivia Schipper had a team-high six rebounds.

Alverno returns to action on Sunday afternoon as it hosts the University of Wisconsin-Superior at 2 p.m.
