Alverno Cruises To Victory Over MSOE
The Alverno women's tennis team cruised to its first victory of the season with a 7-2 victory over host MSOE Wednesday evening.
GLENDALE, Wis. -- The Alverno College women's tennis team cruised to its first victory of the season with a 7-2 victory over host Milwaukee School of Engineering in a Northern Athletics Conference dual at the North Shore Elite Tennis Club, Wednesday evening.
The Inferno (1-2, 1-2 NAC) led 2-1 after doubles play, as the No. 1 team of Tricia Goska (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./Lincoln) and Abigail Kohal (Wauwatosa, Wis./West) defeated their Raider opponents, 8-3, and the No. 3 team of Libby Kent (Oak Creek, Wis.) and Ashley Schmeling (South Milwaukee, Wis.) won handily, 8-0.
Alverno then went on to win five of the six singles matches, four of them in the minimum two sets over the Raiders (0-1, 0-1 NAC).

Goska won the No. 1 match, 3-6, 6-0 and 6-4, Kohal the No. 2 match 6-4 and 6-2, while Lin Liu (Greenfield, Wis.) took the No. 3 match 6-3 and 6-3.
Damanique Drake (Milwaukee/Rufus King) took the No. 5 match 6-1 and 6-2, and Schmeling won the No. 6 match 6-3 and 6-2.

The Inferno hosts a pair of NAC duals this weekend, for its first home contests of the season. Alverno hosts Concordia University Chicago at 10 a.m. followed by Dominican University at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Grant Park in South Milwaukee.
