The Inferno awakened in the second half as it fired off 14 shots and held the Blue Angels without a shot in the period.

Andrea Bowhall found Isabelle Kroes on a corner kick in the 52nd minute for the first of four-straight Inferno goals.

In the 65th minute, a foul on Mount Mary set up a penalty kick by Moniriarani. Her PK was off the left post, but Bryanna Gayle dove in and netted the put back to cut the lead to 4-3.

The Inferno kept firing off shots over the final minutes of regulation and Bowhall launched a deep ball from 30 yards out in the last minute that sailed over the goalkeeper for the game-tying goal.

Alverno finished the game with a 30-6 advantage on shots and an 18-1 benefit on corner kicks.

The victory extended the Inferno's winning streak over the Blue Angels to 14, and was just the second occurrence the crosstown rivals went to extra time in 25 meetings.

Alverno returns to action on Friday in its final contest of 2012, a home game versus the University of Wisconsin-Superior. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. at Alverno Field.
