Devcich Scores Twice, In Alverno's Shutout Of Maranatha

Samantha Devcich scored both Alverno College goals as the Inferno defeated visiting Maranatha Baptist Bible College, 2-0, this evening at Alverno Field.

The Inferno made good on its first corner kick of the contest in the game's 14th minute, as Alverno's all-time assists leader, Nava Moniriarani, connected with Devcich who headed the ball into the back of the net for the opening score.

The visiting Crusaders (2-3-0) had their chances to tie the game, but Inferno goalkeeper Kaitlyn Gallinatti (3-0-0) saved three shots on goal in the opening half.

Devcich netted her second goal of the game, and seventh of the season, in the 79th minute as Andrea Diaz led the rookie forward with a nicely placed pass from the left side of the box that was booted past the Crusaders' goalkeeper.
