Whitnall Powerlifting Team Advances to Nationals

After winning state, the Whitnall powerlifting team has qualified for Nationals for their third consecutive year.

After placing first in the Wisconsin state powerlifting tournament, the Whitnall powerlifting team is advancing to the National tournament in Denver, Colo., April 6-7. 

The following athletes will be traveling to Denver.

  • Sadiee Katowski, 123 pounds;
  • Leah Jenk, 114;
  • Colleen Barnstable, 148;
  • Lauren Lent, 114;
  • Mikey Voekel, 123;
  • Trever Fuller, 165;
  • Nate Stemo, 165;
  • James Goebel, 165;
  • Steven Bonin, 148;
  • Matt Bublitz, 275;
  • Connor Perry, 198;
  • Drake Ambroch, 220;
  • Ben Stojcevic, 181;
  • Billy Schmid, SHW;
  • Troy Monty, 148.

With their final tournament quickly approaching, the team has been dedicated to their preparation.

State champion Nate Stemo, a Whitnall senior, who has qualified for the National Tournament for his fourth consecutive year, said, “We work out everyday as a team and practice our three competition lifts. We need to work hard.”

Senior Colleen Barnstable added, “We go to practice everyday and the workouts are changing to less reps and instead we are lifting more weight.”
