Growing Healthy Houseplants

It's time to turn our attention to inside the home.

Now that the growing season is quickly coming to a close. Just the last Cauliflower, Swiss Chard, Brussels Sprouts and broccoli are left in the garden.

It's time to turn our attention to inside the home. Houseplants that spent the summer outdoors have been brought in, checked for pests and hopefully, cleaned up a bit before their long stay indoors.

This is a great time to check those plants one more time.

We still have enough daylight for them to handle being transplanted or divided. Check to see if they have become root bound. Carefully, and over some newspaper, remove the plant from the pot and inspect the roots. If the roots have become crowded and intertwining, his would be a good time to transplant them into larger pots or if they have multiplied, they can be divided now. Always use fresh soil and chose a pot that is one size larger then the pot they were removed from. After transplanting, and giving them some water, place them near a indirect light source and out of drafts.

They should now be ready for the long stay indoors.
