Johns Disposal has many good things to offer. The city felt this contract was beneficial for the residents.

It was to be more cost effective and also provide two carts for the residents of Greenfield. The brown cart is for garbage and is picked up every week. The green cart is for recyclables that are picked up every other week. The week that the garbage and recyclables are picked up the residents are instructed to keep them six feet apart. The carts are very nicely made out of thick heavy duty plastic. They are larger than the normal garbage can and are they are high and wide, creating a large area for dumping. The new carts also have an attached lid and have enough weight to them to keep them stationary in strong winds.

Previously, the residents had to supply their own garbage cans. The recyclable bin was small and had to be purchased from City Hall to receive a pickup.

The state-of-the-art garbage truck allows for a mechanical arm to grab the cart, lift it and dump it be a employee operating the controls. The carts have arrows to guide the resident in placing them properly at the end of their driveway. This is safer for employees because it doesn’t require man power from the individual which prevents injuries of employees. The downfall is that the some employees lost their jobs and were replaced by this new equipment. This company is doing well thus far for our community.
