There are Some Good Bumper Stickers Out There!

Can that call wait so you can pay full attention to it?

"Put The Phone Down And Nobody Gets Hurt."

I saw that on a car as I was driving to the office one day last week. With a fair amount of cars sporting stickers reminding fellow drivers that cars and cell phones are not a good mix if used together, this one makes the point!

As I am in the business of dealing with the aftermath of improper use of said devices, I seem to take more notice of such messages. And of those who are using both devices and making driving a bit of a hassle. And then getting the look like 'Can't you see that I'm on the phone!'

THAT'S THE PROBLEM!  You're on the phone, and I'm the one who could get disconnected--PERMANENTLY!  I've heard, and seen, many examples of damage and injury when a loss of attention causes a loss of vehicle, among other things.  I'd rather be handling the report of a stolen stereo than an accident involving a driver distracted by the latest gossip. Not good for other drivers, non involved parties, and us insurance agents.

My best recommendation: pull over! If it's that important--that's the best recommendation. You can't cause damage if the vehicle isn't moving. If any damage happens, it won't be your fault. If there is a passenger in the car, let them be your designated dialer--we do this in my vehicles, and it works! It came in handy when a collision occured practically in front of my car--my son called 911 while I got the car out of harms way, and stopped so I could help render aid.

Speakerphones and headsets aren't a bad idea, either. Anything to keep attention on the driving will help! There are enough distractions and hazards out there as it is.  We don't need another.

Put the phone down and nobody gets hurt?  I like that one. Probably be saving on car damage, insurance rates, and probably a life or two.

I like that one, too. Especially the last part.
