What Do You REALLY Value?

Vehicles. Income. Family. Home. 

If I were to ask you to list these in order of importance to you, it might look like this: Family, Income, Home, Vehicles. Pretty much a no-brainer--family is first. When people come to me to ask for my help in protecting these, they tell me that family is first. I'm always happy to hear that.

However, when it comes to the reasons that my help is being asked for, it usually looks like this: Vehicles, Home, Income, Family. 

Is there something wrong with this picture? It seems that the pride and joy is in the GARAGE, not the house. The packages are more important than the contents. Do people buy something just for the pretty package? No, it's usually BECAUSE of the pretty package. Unfortunately, the former is true-we're buying the box, even if what is in it is MUCH nicer. And more important!

What is more important? We say one thing, yet do another. We hear about protecting against mayhem, yet don't think about what can be left in mayhem's wake. If someone REALLY loves insurance, they'd be talking about families, not cars and motorcycles. Do you want to save 15% or more? Save the family's lifestyle with that 15% or more. And you can only put on the belt when the check up includes making sure that a start on protecting the family is done.

My pride and joy? The regular passengers in the car who also inhabit the house!  The paycheck that makes it happen, including the vehicles we get around in. The house that we come home to. Then the cars that get us there and everywhere else. 

I think a family is too important to shift the responsibility to a government, or an unknown person, when it's most important member, the one who pays for it, is no longer there to pay for it. As casting this important responsibility to a treasured asset to unknown persons or a governmental body is one of the biggest mistakes around, it is done on an all too regular basis. And the worst part is that the family sometimes defends it.

My solution? Lets put the family first on BOTH lists--protect their well being FIRST.  And then the rest just falls into place! 

You know, that 15% might just pay for that protection! Do that, and you deserve the belt, and a lot of rewards. You'll have earned them!

I like my REAL legacy--they live and breathe. And don't cost $4/gallon to feed.

And they don't take a back seat to the back seat! Or the front one, either!

Yet all we hear about are the vehicles...they're really important!
