Waiting is the Hardest Part

The long wait for closure on the playoff destination of the Brewers could come as early as tonight.

"The waiting is the hardest part, Every day you see one more card..."

This classic refrain from Tom Petty is heard during instant replay reviews at Badger games and really applies to the Brewers (and not just the 4 1/2 hour torture last night). The Brewers entered September with a nice cushion in the division but took until last Friday to wrap up the title officially.

Now we wait to find out when, where and who. We kind of know when, the Brewers will play Saturday to begin their push to "three more sprays." But, we wait for the time. There is a big deal going on Saturday night in Madison, not having to do with Scott Walker thankfully, and Wisconsin fans tend to spread their love to all the major sports teams. Will the two games go on at the same time? They need to know!

The who and the where are still firmly up in the air. Atlanta, St. Louis, Milwaukee and Arizona all lost last night. The only one that crushed was St. Louis who remained the odd team out. The Brewers remained one game ahead of Arizona and despite the loss actually gained control of their own destiny.

If the Brewers win their last two games they will secure home field in the first round of the playoffs and meet Atlanta or Arizona. They must finish one game ahead of Arizona after losing the season series so ties go to the Diamondbacks. Any slip and a trip to Philly could be on teh horizon.

Petty wraps up his song with the lyrics..."Don't let this go too far, don't let it get to you..."

Sage advice for the Crew, perhaps tonight can be a mini-celebration after a victory over the Pirates and a late night communal viewing of the end of the Arizona - L.A. game, a Dodger victory would then give the team its answers and end the waiting.
