Soule Named Horizon League Tennis Player Of The Week

Maddy Soule of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee has been named the Horizon League Women's Tennis Player of the Week.

Maddy Soule of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee has been named the Horizon League Women's Tennis Player of the Week.

Soule, a two-time All-League honoree, became Milwaukee's all-time leader in singles victories this past weekend.

In all, Soule won four times against IUPUI and Ball State, winning twice in singles while teaming with Christina Colarossi for a pair of wins in doubles.

The straight-sets win Saturday over IUPUI was the record-breaker for Soule, who now has 59 career singles wins in two-plus seasons in Milwaukee. She passed Sammi Schoen, who had 57 career singles victories.

Now, Soule is on the verge of becoming UWM's all-time doubles victory leader, as her 54 currently place her tied for the top spot.

"Maddy put together a very solid 4-0 first weekend for us and it is wonderful she is being recognized by the conference," Milwaukee head coach Sean McInerney said. "She competed very hard, played smart and found a way to win, which was great to see. The fact Maddy was able to become our programs all-time wins leader in just over two seasons is amazing. She has been a major part of the building of this program and I am very proud of her."

The Panthers are back in action with a pair of matches this weekend. Milwaukee hosts DePaul Friday at North Shore Elite before playing at Marquette Sunday.

Steve, go down to the "village square" burn a blue fist. Or, maybe in front of WAL-MART.
