Preview: Whitnall High School Wrestling

A season preview of Whitnall High School's wrestling team for the 2012-13 season.

With winter sports about to begin, Whitnall High School’s wrestling team looks forward to what the 2012-2013 season has in store.

Whitnall had its first practice on Monday, Nov. 12. According to coach Austin, the team looks prepared, and he is anticipating an exciting season.

In my exclusive interview with him, I asked which wrestlers we should look out for this season.

“Seniors captains Zach Price and Zach Barnhart — it's their fourth year wrestling in high school and they have been practicing hard," said Austin.

I interviewed sophomore Nick Monty and senior Mark Jaskulski on how they think the team will do this season. They both said we have a chance at winning conference, but it will not be easy. Nick also said that it could just be a rebuilding year.

For seniors, this is their last season wrestling for Whitnall. Whitnall only had one state qualifier last year, Mason Howard, and he was eliminated in the first round losing, 10-8, to Wausau West’s Travis Hettinga.
