Three Wisconsin High School Seniors Win BBB’s “Student of Integrity” Scholarship

Milwaukee, Wis. – May 6, 2013 - The Better Business Bureau of Wisconsin Foundation is pleased to announce the winners of its 2013 “Student of Integrity” Scholarships. 

The winners are: Allison Dikanovic of William Horlick High School; Adam Hastings, of Sussex Hamilton High School; and Trevor Stokes of River Falls High School. 

Each student will receive a $2,500 scholarship to attend an accredited college of their choice. In the Fall, Dikanovic and Hastings will attend Marquette University; and Stokes will attend Hamline University. 

The students were chosen out of approximately 500 applicants. To earn the scholarship, students must be a high school senior with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 – among other requirements. They’re requested to write a short essay describing how they build character in themselves and in others, and how they will build character in the future. The essay, along with their community involvement, volunteer activities, awards and honors, are all considered by a panel of 12 judges. 

“We received hundreds of applications from outstanding candidates, making it a definite challenge to choose just three,” said Ran Hoth, Wisconsin BBB president/CEO. “There are so many exceptional, impressive students in Wisconsin with significant character and integrity. All of these scholarship winners have notable academic and community service records, and each has made a profound impact on their community. They all have bright futures, and are on the path to becoming tenacious, ethical leaders.” 

The 2013 scholarships are sponsored by the BBB of Wisconsin Foundation, State Collection Service and Briggs & Stratton. The BBB of Wisconsin Foundation would like to thank Briggs & Stratton and State Collection Service for providing matching funds to sponsor this year’s scholarships. 

The Student of Integrity Scholarships are intended to give high school seniors who have demonstrated character, leadership and ethical values the opportunity to continue their education beyond high school at an accredited college. This is the fourth year that scholarships have been awarded. Information about the 2014 Student of Integrity Scholarships will be sent to high schools statewide and posted on the BBB’s website –www.wisconsin.bbb.org/scholarship - beginning in the fall.
