Blog: Whitnall High School EcoPhones Fundraiser

For a school fundraiser, Whitnall High School students and faculty are participating in a friendly competition to see which group can collect more donated electronics and unwanted jewelry.

Whitnall High School students and faculty are participating in a friendly competition through the donation of old electronics and unwanted jewelry.

In this fundraiser, there is nothing to buy or sell, and there is no limit to how much you can earn. According to Mrs. Duernberger, the “ring leader” of this fundraiser, all one has to do is simply bring in old and unwanted items and it could help “raise up to $500 per used consumer electronics item.”

With the money raised from the fundraiser, Whitnall plans on building a sensory garden right here in the Whitnall district. It is a garden to help children with special needs work on their five senses, along with other students, to help them strengthen theirs!

Items that the group is accepting are used or broken jewelry, cell phones, ink jet printer cartridges, laptops, iPods, mp3 players, digital cameras, and many other electronics.

“It’s really not that hard to find old electronics around the house once you look for them!,” stated Mrs.D during her interview.

Classrooms at the high school are competing against each other to see which class can get the most items, and whoever does will get a pizza party. Feel free to drop in the High School and donate any of your unwanted electronics as well!
