Whitnall Dance Team Competes at State

Whitnall girls gave it their all against their competitors.

On Feb. 2, 2013, the Whitnall dance team went to the state competition in LaCrosse and placed fifth.

The team made history by being the first dance team at Whitnall High School to make it to state for two dances. The coach and the dancers were both very shocked and happy.

“I was shocked we made it to state with not one but two of our dances and I have high hopes for the team,” said Melissa Wiske, a Whitnall junior and and dancer for the school for three years.

Taylor Clarizio, a junior said, “I am very surprised we made it to state for two dances. My mind was set on only one but two dances is perfect, I hope we place!”

Lelaina Tempel, senior captain of the dance team, said, “For the amount of time we put into practicing our dances I had little to no expectations that we would make it to state but I’m very proud of the team and excited to see what happens”.

The dance placed fifth in one of the dances. The dancers gave it their all, but in the end, the little time they put into practicing caught up to them and they were beat. It was a great season for the girls and the team has high hopes to return next year and dominate the competition.
