Olympic Bronze Medalist Alyson (Aly) Dudek will be at the Hales Corners McDonald's on Thursday, July 26, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
The short track speedskater is in town to support the building of the proposed outdoor ice rink in Hales Park, which will be named in her honor. The newly-renovated McDonald's, 6000 S. 108th St., is donating 20 percent of all food sales, from 4 to 7 p.m. that evening and every other Thursday through the end of the year, in support of the Alyson Dudek International Ice Center.
The proposed Alyson Dudek International Ice Center is a public-private partnership between the residents and businesses in Hales Corners and Milwaukee County Parks & Recreation. The goal is to build a 100' X 200' Olympic-sized, outdoor ice skating rink that will be open to the public in December 2012 for residents to enjoy free ice skating and recreation. Estimated costs for building the rink are $150,000. With strong community interest in the outdoor facility, a second phase will begin 2013 that will include a pavilion and restrooms.
