Student Reactions to Whitnall Homecoming Week

Many students at Whitnall High School had a great time last week for their homecoming due to some great planning by the student senate.

Many students at Whitnall High School had a great time last week for their homecoming due to some great planning by the student senate.

Whitnall’s homecoming was a week full of fun activities. Many of the students said it was one that they would never forget. It all started with the creative dress-up days that were picked out by the student senate featuring the annual color war on Wednesday. Also, there were games every day at lunch where every grade would compete against each other to be claimed the best class in the school.

There was a parade on Friday to get the school pumped up for the big football game later that night. And to cap it all off there was the famous homecoming dance.

The first three spirit days were separated by grade with Monday being pattern day, Tuesday being clue day, and Wednesday being the beloved color war. Color war is a day that separates each grade by color where freshmen are red, sophomores are blue, juniors are green, and the seniors wearing orange.

“It was unbelievably, incredibly awesome!” said sophomore Tyler Merritt about color war pep rally.

Thursday was superhero day where all of the students got to wear the hero of their childhood. For the last day of spirit week, students wore all of their Whitnall wear to support the football team for the biggest game of their season.

With all of these spirit days there were lunchtime games to go with where each grade had four of their students go out and compete to see which class is most dominant. The freshmen, sophomores, and juniors battled but just couldn’t defeat the seniors.

“They were fun, but last year's were better because there was food challenges," senior Rhianna Butske said.

Along with the Falcon pride day on Friday, there was the annual Whitnall parade that featured the fall season sport teams, homecoming court, and the Hales Corners Police and Fire Departments. The parade starts down by Hales Corners Elementary and works its way up 116th all the way to the high school.

“It was pretty fun, but it was really cold,” a Whitnall senior said.

The elementary kids really love seeing all of the teams from the high school.

The Falcons were able to come up with a win against Cudahy despite giving up an opening kickoff for a touchdown.

To finish off the long week, there was a dance in the gymnasium of the high school, which usually many students love. But this year the students had mixed emotions.

Senior Jamie Wunrow said, “That was the best dance ever!”

Another senior, Lauren Zurowski said, “It was a good time until the administration enforced new rules.”
