Where is our compassion?

News reports are pouring in and magazines are covering all of the aspects of Coey Monteith's death of a deadly combination of heroine and alcohol. It's easy to kind of shrug our shoulders and say, "well, that's what you get for doing drugs." Or, "that's the price of fame." What's harder is to be compassionate. To realize that this was a young man with troubles - and someone who admitted to and faced up to his addictions and demons. He was honest, he sought out help, and, ultimately, he failed at overcoming his battle with addiction. It isn't that it's uncommon, but Monteith's fame lends more focus to his situation, of course. It may be a challenge, but try to be compassionate; live with compassion and empathy. No matter who or who else we are, we are all human and share this world together.
