1965: What Was it Like When Frank Springob Joined the Greenfield Police Department

Here is a look back at the major events of the same year Chief Springob began his career with the department.

On Jan 1, 1965, Frank Springob began a 46 1/2 –year career with the Greenfield Police Department.

Today, his last day with the department, marks an end of an era, and Greenfield Patch thought it would be fun to look back and see what the world was like in Springob’s first year:

  • The Sound of Music was released.
  • The Grateful Dead, with lead guitarist Jerry Garcia, played their first concert.
  • Actors Ben Stiller and Sarah Jessica Parker and Harry Potter author J K Rowling were born.
