Agitated, Drunken Man Assaults 3 on County Bus: Police

Upset a police squad was parked in the Greenfield park and ride lot his bus was pulling into, a drunken Greendale man punched three people on a Milwaukee Transit bus.

Agitated over seeing a police squad, a drunken Greendale man assaulted three people on a Milwaukee County bus line, court documents allege.

Kyle Kubiak, 21, was charged July 2 in Milwaukee County Circuit Court with three counts of misdemeanor battery and one count of misdemeanor disorderly conduct. If convicted, he could face up to two years and six months imprisonment, $31,000 in fines, or both.

According to the criminal complaint, police spoke with three witnesses riding a Milwaukee County Transit bus from Summerfest on June 28 who say Kubiak assaulted them.

The victims said Kubiak was riding in the back of the bus as it began to enter the park and ride lot at 4800 South 108th Street in Greenfield when he started yelling profanities about a police squad parked in the lot, asking “why are the cops arresting us?”

Unprovoked, Kubiak stood up and punched one of the victims in the face and nose, according to the court documents.

One of the other victims jumped up to help her friend and she was struck by Kubiak with a closed-fist. The other friend then jumped up to grab Kubiak, and he was met with a punch to the face, breaking his glasses and causing pain to his eyes and nose, the criminal complaint says.

At that point, other bus passengers intervened and held down Kubiak.

After police apprehended Kubiak, according to the court documents, he registered a 0.27 blood alcohol content on a Breathalyzer.

Kubiak is due in court July 30 for a pre-trial conference.
