'Airheads' Candy of Choice in Theft

A 20-year-old Greenfield man received a retail theft citation for allegedly stealing candy worth $1.50 on Sept. 14.

A 20-year-old Greenfield man received a citation for retail theft after he allegedly stole some candy from his former employer, Speedway, 4265 S. 60th St.

The candy, valued at approximately $1.50, was appropriately a package of “Airheads.”

According to the Greenfield Police Department, an employee at the gas station informed police that on Sept. 14, the suspect came into the gas station, crouched down near the candy aisle and appeared to conceal some merchandise.

The incident was caught on video tape, and the employee recognized the man as a former employee. Police, however, were not certain the man did in fact shoplift.

When police contacted the man and asked him what happened, he admitted to taking the candy and said it was a dumb thing to do.
