Bad to Worse for Shoplifter-Turned-Spitter, Police Say

Marylou Perez of Milwaukee was charged with felony assault by a prisoner and is accused of spitting in a county jail employee's mouth. She was initially arrested for stealing a watch and lotion from Kmart, police say.

A 35-year-old Milwaukee woman arrested in Greenfield for shoplifting a watch and lotion, a misdemeanor, on Feb. 8, now faces felony charges as well.

Marylou Perez was charged Feb. 11, in Milwaukee County Circuit Court with one count of assault by a prisoner – expelling bodily fluids when she spit on the face and in the mouth of an employee at the county’s criminal justice facility.

According to court documents, a nursing supervisor was in the pre-booking area of the jail with Perez at 9:30 p.m. Feb. 8. The supervisor asked Perez to sign a pre-booking form but Perez instead took the pen and stated she was going to kill herself and stab herself in the jugular.
