Birthday Rollover Crash Leads to Drunken Driving Arrest

A man who turned 33 Sunday was arrested after a rollover accident he caused shut down the Hale Interchange ramps for about an hour early Sunday morning.

A man who turned 33 Sunday was arrested after the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department said a rollover accident he caused shut down the Hale Interchange ramps for about an hour early Sunday morning.

According to the sheriff's department, deputies responded to a rollover crash on southbound I-43 just north of Highway 100 in Greenfield at 2:10 a.m.

The driver, who turned 33 today, was lying in the distress lane, a 30-year-old passenger was trapped in the backseat with injuries, and a third occupant was not injured. The Greenfield Fire Department extricated the trapped man.

The driver was unable to perform a preliminary breath test due to chest and neck pain and was transported to Froedtert Hospital. He was arrested for operating while intoxicated - causing injury, a misdemeanor with maximum penalty of up to 9 months in jail.
