A Milwaukee couple is facing charge after they allegedly stole a woman’s purse while she was loading groceries into her car at a Greenfield store.
Jessica L. Rajchal and Michael A. Sterling, both 22, were charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court on Saturday with one count of theft. If convicted, they each face up to nine months in prison and $10,000 in fines.
According to the criminal complaint:
At 4 p.m. Thursday, a woman in the parking lot of was loading groceries into her car from a shopping cart when the couple ran towards her. Rajchal grabbed the woman’s purse out of the cart and ran. The victim and another woman chased after the suspects, but were unable to catch them.
The duo was arrested later by Greenfield police officers. They admitted to stealing the purse, taking money out of it and ditching it.
Both are currently being held in Milwaukee County Jail on signature bonds while awaiting trial.
