Erratic Highway Driver Charged with 4th OWI, Bail Jumping

Theodore Grenier, a 32-year-old Greenfield man, admitted to taking prescription drugs prior to driving on I-94 near 60th Street, according to the criminal complaint.

A 32-year-old Greenfield man has been hit with his fourth drunken driving charge after authorities say he was driving erratically on Interstate 94.

A Milwaukee County sheriff's deputy saw Theodore Grenier’s 2004 black Toyota Tacoma swerve from its lane near 60th Street on I-94, about 6:30 p.m. March 29, according to court documents.

The deputy pulled over Grenier, who had slow, slurred speech, glassy eyes and lethargic movements. He was also sweating profusely.

Grenier admitted to taking several prescription medications prior to driving, and he failed field sobriety tests.

Grenier was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court on April 2. If convicted of the felony, Grenier faces a maximum of 6 years of imprisonment, $10,000 in fines.

Grenier was also convicted of operating while intoxicated in 2006, 2007 and 2009. Grenier was also previously charged with felony possession of narcotic drugs but was released on the condition that he not commit any new crimes.

For violating that condition, he was also charged with felony bail jumping April 2, and faces an additional six years of imprisonment and another $10,000 in fines, if convicted.
