Fill the Boot Fundraiser Rescheduled ... Again

Greenfield firefighters are teaming up with the Muscular Dystrophy Association to raise funds later this week.

For the second time this month, Greenfield Fire Fighters Local #1963 has set rain dates for its to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

The fire fighters from motorists and pedestrians June 24, 25, and 28 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the intersection of Layton Avenue and 76th Street. The event was postponed Monday because of rain.  

"We cancelled the event as a safety precaution," MDA fundraising coordinator Elizabeth Wagler said. "The safety of the fire fighters and the public is our number one priority. But the fire fighters are excited to get out there later this week and raise their goal."

The event was originally slated for June 8-10, but postponed because of extreme heat.

The Greenfield Fire Department raised more than $30,000 last year and hopes to surpass that year.
