Fire at Red Lobster Confined to Bathroom

Fire Department extinguishes fire before it spreads.

An electrical fire at Red Lobster was confined to a bathroom this morning by the Greenfield Fire Department.

Two managers and an employee were on the scene when the fire broke out and reported it sometime before 8 a.m. Monday.

When firefighters arrived, there was a large amount of smoke near the ceiling of the building, but the fire was quickly extinguished.

“It sounded worse than it actually was,” Battalion Chief Jeff Hohensee said. “Something like that can quickly extend through the ceiling really quick, but we were happy with the results, especially when you don’t know if something like that has been burning through the night.”

There were no injuries and early estimates of damage were $2,000. Hohensee said the fire was likely caused by a malfunctioning exhaust fan and was small enough that it will not be investigated.
