Firefighters Collect Record Amount During 'Fill the Boot' Campaign

Firefighters collected nearly $34,000 in three days last week.

The raised $33,827 last week during its Fill the Boot campain that benefited the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

According to firefighter Andy Greil, the amount is a new record for the department and beat last year's mark by nearly $1,400.

"Greenfield Fire and Local 1963 would like to thank all of the commuters, citizens, and local businesses of the community for their generosity that made this worthy event such a huge success," Greil said.

Firefighters took over the corner of Layton Avenue and 76th Street July 11-13 and collected donations from motorists. Be sure to check out from the event.
