Greenfield Fire Fighters Help Battle Burlington Food Plant Blaze

The fire at Echo Lake Farm Produce started at 6:05 p.m. Wednesday and was not yet under control as of 7 a.m. Thursday.

Nearly 100 fire departments, including Greenfield's, were in Burlington overnight to battle a massive eight-alarm fire at a food-processing plant.

Greenfield Fire Chief Jon Cohn confirmed his department was one of 93 that responded to the fire, which started at 6:05 p.m. Wednesday and was not yet under control as of 7 a.m. Thursday.

Cohn said his department was working on extinguishing the fire on the administrative side of the Echo Lake Farm Produce plant located near downtown Burlington.

Also responding from Milwaukee County were: South Milwaukee, Greendale, North Shore, West Allis, Wauwatosa and Hales Corners.

Echo Lake Farm Produce employs nearly 300. No workers or firefighters have been injured, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
