Greenfield Man, 24, Jailed After 6th OWI Arrest

Austin T. Cowley's first four drunken offenses occurred in 2009, a criminal complaint states, and he was arrested in Muskego early Saturday morning on his sixth offense.

A 24-year-old Greenfield man remains jailed lieu of $10,000 bail after he was arrested and charged with his sixth drunken driving offense.

Austin T. Cowley was also charged Monday in Waukesha County Circuit Court with operating while revoked. If convicted of the two crimes, he faces up to 4-1/2 years in prison and $12,500 in fines.

Cowley was spotted traveling 53 mph in a 25 mph zone on Janesville Road in Muskego at 1:35 a.m. Saturday. The officer pulled over Cowley’s vehicle and smelled an odor of intoxicants coming from his breath and noticed Cowley’s speech was slow and slurred, the complaint states.

Cowley failed his field sobriety tests after saying the letter Z instead of O during the alphabet test and swaying in a circle when he was told to stand straight, the complaint states. His preliminary breath test showed he had a .155 percent blood alcohol concentration. A blood draw was taken and sent to Madison for analysis.

Cowley previously drove while intoxicated on Feb. 4, 2009, June 20, 2009, June 28, 2009, Oct. 24, 2009, and Sept. 17, 2010.
