Greenfield Man Hits Parked Car, Charged With 4th OWI

The suspect ran from police after they spotted his SUV parked down the road from the accident.

A 42-year-old Greenfield man is facing felony drunk driving charges after he hit a parked car while driving in West Allis last week.

Fred J. Eblie was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court on Saturday with one count of fourth offense operating while intoxicated within a five-year period and one count of obstructing an officer. If convicted, he faces up to nearly seven years in prison and $20,000 in fines.

On May 10, Eblie was travelling southbound on South 74th Street near West Becher Street when he hit a parked car with his SUV and continued driving. Several witnesses flagged down a police officer who found Eblie’s vehicle parked in front of a house in the 2200 block of 74th Street.

The officer saw Eblie walking away from the SUV and told him to stop, but he then began to run. Officers chased him through several yards until they eventually apprehended him, where he continued to resist officers.

Eblie was taken to an area hospital where he was administered a blood test.

He was previously convicted of OWI in 1993, 1997 and 2007.
