Greenfield Man Charged With Fifth OWI

Suspect, 31, had eight drinks before getting pulled over in West Allis on Wednesday morning.

A 31-year-old Greenfield man is facing felony drunk driving charges after he allegedly got caught driving after having eight drinks in West Allis.

Ryan N. Pettey was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court Wedensday with one count of fifth offense operating while intoxicated. If convicted, he faces up to six years in prison and $10,000 in fines.

At 12:45 a.m. Wednesday, Pettey was spotted by a West Allis Police officer driving in the 2400 block of South 108th Street. Pettey was driving very slowly in the left lane and nearly struck the median.

He was then pulled over, but offered no explanation as to why he almost struck the curb, but said he had eight drinks before he drove. When asked where he was drinking, Pettey responded “I plead the Fifth.”

Pettey was previously convicted of OWI in 2003, 2004, 2009 and 2010. He’s currently being held on $850 cash bond.
