Greenfield Man Dead of Apparent Drug Overdose

The incident was one of several drug or alcohol related incidents over the holidays.

A 26-year-old Greenfield man died sometime between 5 p.m. Dec. 30 and 6 a.m. Dec. 31 from an apparent drug overdose.

Devin Langhoff was found lying on a bedroom floor by a family member who then called 911 in the early morning hours of Dec. 31, but Langhoff was dead when paramedics and the arrived, according to the police report.

Drug-related items were collected as evidence from the scene by Greenfield police.

According to the report, Michael Langhoff, Devin’s father, told Greenfield police that Devin had been arrested for drug possession about a year ago. Michael Langhoff also told police Devin had been in court Dec. 27, where he was ordered to seek rehabilitation within the next 30 days.

Services for Langhoff are Friday.

The apparent overdose was just one of several drug or alcohol related incidents Greenfield police responded to on New Years Eve and Day:

  • At approximately 4 p.m. Dec. 31, a 20-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man were arrested for alleged possession of heroin, marijuana and Schedule III substances after police were called by neighbors to investigate a fight in the 10100 block of West Cold Spring Road.
  • On Dec. 31, police were called to investigate a suspicious vehicle outside of . Once there, police arrested a 25-year-old man for alleged possession of marijuana and a 23-year-old woman for alleged possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Just minutes before midnight on Dec. 31, police arrested an 18-year-old man for alleged OWI near South 27th Street and Layton Avenue.
  • At 2:10 a.m. Jan. 1, a 20-year-old man was cited for possession of marijuana in the 4600 block of South 27th Street.
  • At approximately 3 a.m. Jan. 1, a 22-year-old woman was taken into custody for OWI, obstruction (for giving a false name and date of birth upon request) and disorderly conduct in the 4900 block of West Forest Home Avenue. The woman had open warrants with three other policing agencies.

Christmas brings out sad, weird and desperate

In addition to two incidents , Greenfield police responded to several other calls on Christmas Eve and Day.

At 4 a.m. Christmas Day, a Greenfield police officer found David Glowinski, a 61-year-old South Milwaukee man, dead in his truck that was parked and running with the parking lights on in the parking lot, 4601 S. 27th Street.

According to the police report, Glowinski's ex-wife indicated he had several health problems, and the responding officer found Glowinski hooked up to an oxygen tank.

On a lighter note, later that day, Greenfield and West Allis police responded to an ADT alarm set off by an office motion detector at , at approximately 1:45 p.m. The culprit? A bird had apparently got into the building, setting off the alarm. The bird was set free.

On Christmas Eve, the store manager of Stein’s Gardens and Gifts reported a female got into a sporty, gold four-door vehicle occupied by two males after allegedly leaving the store without paying for items, possibly ornaments.

In addition, K-Mart employees called Greenfield police on three different occasions to report retail theft, and one gas station reported a case of a gas drive-off.
