On Dec. 29, a Greenfield police officer was investigating an incident when he learned a man was selling heroin out of a room at the Roadway Inn, 4400 S. 27th St.

The officer watched the motel as a woman went and purchased drugs from the room, then pulled her over as she left the parking lot. She was in possession of heroin she said was purchased from a man named Mike at the motel.

The officer had the motel clerk ask King to come to the desk and settle his bill, but King never showed up. The officer was concerned King fled, so he went to the room to make sure no one went inside.

The officer was concerned someone might be inside the room destroying evidence, so he got a key and entered and found King inside along with a small amount of heroin and paraphernalia.

King said he doesn’t use heroin, but he just gave some to a woman so she wouldn’t get sick. King also said he’s a dealer who “gives a damn,” and provides clean needles to customers.

King was assigned a $750 signature bond while awaiting trial.
