Greenfield Police Just Minutes Shy From Catching Burglary Suspect in Act

Police arrived less than 3 minutes after the suspect fled Coldspring Liquor with an undisclosed amount of cash March 25, according to the police report.

Greenfield police are looking for a suspect who broke into Coldspring Liquor, 6115 W. Cold Spring Rd., and made off with an unspecified amount of money March 25.

According to the police report, surveillance video showed a man, possibly a white male approximately 6 feet tall and with a medium build, using a small hammer to break a hole in the window just to the left of the store’s front door.

He then reached through the hole and unlocked the front door. Once he entered the business, he immediately went behind the front counter and took money from an unlocked money box.

The suspect then went back to the front door and locked it before going to an ATM machine inside the store, where he removed a metal money box containing an undisclosed amount of money.

The man then left the store through the back door.

Turns out, Greenfield police were just 2 1/2 minutes behind the suspected burglar, who left the building, according to surveillance video, at 1:39 a.m. A Greenfield officer arrived at 1:42 a.m.

The man was seen wearing khaki army fatigues tucked into his black combat boots. He also appeared to be wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, baseball cap and possibly a ski mask. He also had on dark gloves.
