Makeup, Soap on Couple's Shop-Lifting List, Police Say

Elsiedelia Vissette Santos concealed more than $500 in cosmetics from Kmart, according to the criminal complaint.

Had this couple gotten away with a heist police say they attempted, she would have looked good and he would have smelled good.

Elsiedelia Vissette Santos, a 24-year-old Milwaukee woman, was charged with felony retail theft in Milwaukee County Circuit Court on March 1, four days after she was arrested for trying to steal more than $500 in cosmetics, police say.

According to the criminal complaint, Santos, her fiancé and their 6-year-old child came to Kmart, 4601 S. 27th St., Feb. 25. An employee called Greenfield police when he noticed Santos wearing a backpack and acting suspiciously in the cosmetics aisle. When an officer responded to the store and confronted Santos, she immediately took off the backpack and admitted she had concealed items in it, according to court documents.

Inside the backpack, officers found more than 100 cosmetic items totaling $550.30.

The store employee told police what initially drew his attention to Santos was her dumping large amounts of cosmetics into her cart without even looking at them. He later watched her conceal the items in her backpack while in another area of the store.
