Man Accused of Stealing $700 in Merchandise From Target

Police say a security guard saw the suspect put baby formula in a backpack and walk out of the store with two women.

A 22-year-old Milwaukee man is accused of stealing more than $700 in merchandise from Target.

Cornelius Boyd Jr. was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court on Thursday with one count of felony retail theft. If convicted, he faces up to 1 ½ years in prison and $10,000 in fines.

On Monday, a security officer at Target saw Boyd enter the store, stash cans of baby formula in a backpack, then meet up with two women and leave the store without paying. The guard saw the trio enter a car and then called the Greenfield Police Department.

An officer found the car and as he approached he saw Boyd in the back seat holding several cans of baby formula between his legs. More stolen items were found in the back of the car, which were valued at $711.

Boyd admitted to taking the items from the store. He’s being held in custody on a $750 signature bond and order turned over to Justice Point for supervision while awaiting trial.
