A Greenfield man was busted after he borrowed his cousin's jacket and returned it with one of the stolen earrings still inside.

A 26-year-old Greenfield man is facing charges after he was caught taking his aunt’s jewelry in Milwaukee and then pawning it at a nearby jewelry store.

On Thursday, Andrade asked to borrow his cousin’s jacket while at his home in the 3000 block of South 13th Street, and when he returned it, the cousin noticed one of his mom’s earrings was in the jacket. He then called his mom who found out there were 15 pieces of jewelry missing from the house, with a total value of $1,300.

The victim then went to a nearby jewelry store and the clerk informed her a man had sold the jewelry to her earlier that day. The cousin then brought Andrade to the shop and the clerk identified him as the man who sold the items.

Andrade said he got the jewelry from a drug-dealing friend of his, who asked him to sell the items. He said he never would have agreed to sell the items if he knew they were his aunt’s because she does a lot for him.

Andrade was assigned a $250 signature bond and was ordered turned over to the JUSTICE 2000 program while awaiting trial.
