On Nov. 7, Maas went to Robert Haack Diamonds to sell a 1979 class ring he said had belonged to his dead father. He got $180 for the ring; however, a store employee was suspicious about the transaction and contacted the Greenfield Police Department.

Officers contacted Maas’ father, who said the ring had gone missing from his nightstand. Maas was interviewed by officers and admitted to the theft.
