Man Allegedly Stole, Used Credit Card During Crime Spree

A 23-year-old Milwaukee man admitted to entering as many as a dozen cars in a week, and Greenfield police confiscated nearly $1,300 in items believed to be stolen.

A 23-year-old Milwaukee man believed to be responsible for several thefts from cars, was arrested by Greenfield police last week.

Brian Wallace was apprehended by police at a relative’s home in the 7400 block of West Tripoli Avenue in Milwaukee on May 28, six days after Wallace, his 22-year-old girlfriend and an unknown accomplice allegedly used a stolen debit/credit card to purchase various items.

According to the report, Wallace and a man only known as “Paco” stole a wallet from an unlocked car owned by a Greenfield man in the early morning hours of May 22.

Wallace and Paco then used a debit/credit card from the wallet at Speedway, 3869 S. 84th Street to purchase cigarettes and doughnuts that morning. Later that morning, Wallace, Paco and Wallace’s girlfriend went to , 4296 S. 76th Street, and the three of them purchased approximately $50 worth of toilet paper, milk, baby formula and soap.

Police traced the fraudulent use of the credit card back to Wallace, who was staying at his relative’s house, May 28. There police confiscated more than $1,300 in alleged stolen items and drugs.

Among the items was a $400 Trek bike Wallace admitted to stealing the day before. In addition, police confiscated six pairs of sunglasses valued at $200, four wallets, two cell phones, a digital camera and miscellaneous business, credit, gift, insurance and debit/credit cards.

Wallace admitted to police he entered as many as 12 cars in the week prior to his arrest. He told police he and Paco would walk down the street and look for random unlocked vehicles.

The new charges against Wallace are pending because he has an open case with the District Attorney’s office. He was charged with theft of movable property May 10, and likely faces additional charges of credit card fraud and two counts of receiving stolen property. He is to meet with the District Attorney's office Tuesday, June 12.

Wallace’s girlfriend, who has not yet been charged, admitted to fraudulent use of the credit card and possession of heroin and was arrested for possession of narcotic drugs and credit card fraud.
