Almost $100 in Cough Drops, Peanut Butter Cups Stolen From Greenfield Gas Station

The suspect, who was charged on Monday, was found later near a bus stop after stealing the candy in front of an employee.

Despite claims by the manufacturer, a 44-year-old Milwaukee man may have found the wrong way to eat a Reese’s in Greenfield.

Peter Ward Jr. was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court on Monday after he got caught stealing $95 worth of Reese’s Peanut Butter cups and cough drops from a Greenfield gas station.

According to the criminal complaint, on Saturday Ward went to , and began to grab the candy and cough drops in front of an employee and then walk out the door. The employee then called police and Ward was later found at a bus stop near South 35th Street and Howard Avenue.

Ward told police he threw out the stolen candy, but it was later found in a bag underneath a seat on a bus.

Ward is charged with one count of retail theft and could face up to nine months in prison and $10,000 in fines if convicted.
