Man Charged With Third OWI After Nearly Hitting Another Car
The Greenfield man, 27, tried to resist police when told to take a blood alcohol test.
A Greenfield man is facing drunk driving charges after he nearly hit another car Sunday and then tried to resist having a alcohol blood test administered.
Joseph J. Vollmer, 27, was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court on Monday with one count of third offense operating while intoxicated. If convicted, he faces up to one year in county jail and $2,000 in fines.

A person called police after they saw Vollmer speeding and driving recklessly in the 4200 block of South 76th Street near on Sunday. Vollmer nearly hit another driver with his truck and was then pulled over.
Vollmer told officers he wasn’t drinking, but he failed field sobriety tests. He then refused to submit to a chemical blood test and resisted officers as they tried to get a sample from him.

A blood test was eventually completed at St. Luke’s Hospital; the results, however, are not yet known.
Vollmer was convicted of OWI in 2006 and 2009. He was assigned a $350 bail at his initial appearance in court Monday.
