Man Crashes Motorcycle on Loomis Road On-Ramp

Daniel R. Laack of Brookfield crashed his motorcycle at approximately 2 a.m. Thursday. The twice-convicted drunk driver was allegedly operating while intoxicated.

A Brookfield man is in the hospital after his motorcycle crashed on the Loomis Road on-ramp shortly after 2 a.m. Thursday.

According to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department, a deputy responded to a 911 call a motorcycle down on westbound I-43 at the Loomis on-ramp.

The motorcycle operator, Daniel R. Laack, 40, of Brookfield, was transported to the hospital to be treated for facial lacerations, broken ribs, a spleen laceration and back pain.

He reportedly went off the ramp and traveled about 20 yards through the grass before overturning and coming to a stop. He stated he remembered nothing of the crash, the sheriff's department said.

Laack was arrested for allegedly operating while intoxicated and for an alleged prohibitive alcohol concentration level, both of which would be his third offense if convicted. His prior OWI convictions were in September 1990 and March 1996. If convicted, he faces up to a year in jail.
