Man Drives Car Into Police Squad, Charged with Possession of Cocaine

The 33-year-old Milwaukee man was also issued a citation for drunk driving and several other traffic violations.

James Pizur stopped to assist a fellow officer perform a field sobriety test on a driver on South 51st Street just before 1 a.m. May 25, probably expecting it to be a standard routine.

It turned out to be anything but.

While Pizur assisted, another driver drove his beige 2004 Kia Optima into Pizur’s squad, causing moderate damage to the driver’s vehicle.

According to the police report, the driver pulled over and blamed the emergency lights on Pizur’s vehicle for the crash, claiming he was unable to see the squad because of the lights’ brightness and glare.

Turns out Antonio Galindo-Villegas, a 33-year-old Milwaukee man, had more than the lights to blame. After struggling with field sobriety tests of his own, Galindo-Villegas blew a .16 blood-alcohol content reading into a preliminary breath test and was arrested for drunk driving.

Things got worse for Galindo-Villegas back at the Greenfield police station where police found two bags of cocaine in his wallet, with a combined weight of .82 grams.

Galindo-Villegas told police he used the cocaine to relieve back pain and to keep him awake when he is working.

He was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court with possession of cocaine later Friday day and issued municipal traffic citations for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated (second offense), inattentive driving, operating after suspension and operating a vehicle without insurance.
