Alleged Drunken Scooter Joyride Leads to Felony OWI Charge

A Greenfield man and his friend allegedly spent a day drinking before deciding to take a ride on a dirt bike and scooter. One of them crashed and faces felony OWI charges.

A Greenfield man is facing felony drunk-driving charges after he and a friend allegedly got drunk and took rides on a scooter and dirt bike down a city bike path.

That joyride could end up costing the man time in prison.

Matthew Ryan Rumble, 26, was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court on Thursday with one count of fourth offense operating while intoxicated within five years. If convicted, he faces up to six years in prison and $10,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint:

At 1:45 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, were called to a bike path near Howard Avenue after a man crashed his scooter while riding with Rumble. Rumble told police they had been drinking earlier in the night when they decided to take the dirt bike and scooter for a ride.

Rumble failed field sobriety tests and was then taken in for a blood test.

He was previously convicted of OWI in 2007, 2008 and 2009.Β
